If you cut open my heart,
you’d see people on fossilisied
on different layers
some old, some new
layer upon layer
dig into my heart
like an archaeologist
digging through time
to uncover ancient civilizations:
lost cities, forgotten kings and queens,
and their buried treasure
destroyed thrones.
you will find
lovers, friends, strangers
lying next to me
like Heer Ranjha
peacefully sleeping next to each other
forever
hand in hand
If like an archiologist
you try to find out
how my kings and queen lived
what made them laughed
What ended them?
digging deeper to see
what raveged it all.
If you keep digging,
You will find
the cause that destroyed
Kingdom after kingdom
City after city
cities i built brick by brick
With my bare hands
If you keep looking,
For the cause that killed eveyrone,
You will see,
Some died from lack of it,
Some drowned in its abundance,
And some never found
When you will get close to it,
What ruined
you and me
it would kill you to know
the cause was always
love.
