The Dying Cinema is a photo series exploring the fading single-screen cinemas of Karachi, with a focus on Venus Cinema in Lalukhet. In contrast to the city’s rising multiplex culture, Venus continues to offer low-cost entertainment to working-class audiences.

At a time when photographers often frame Karachi through its high-rises and skylines, this project shifts the lens to neglected interiors and hidden public spaces. It documents not just the physical decline of these cinemas, but the enduring relationship between the space and its audience—a quiet tribute to a vanishing cinematic culture.
